After the waffles this morning, we loaded up into the car where Max played X-Box, Emma listened to her iPod, Rosie watched a movie (technology is so cool) while Chris and I went over the Road Food book trying to find somewhere delicious for lunch. Lots of yummy sounding places, but, sadly, none of them were on our route. We settled for sandwiches at another picnic table, this time in Indiana.
It did not meet the standard of last night's delicious ice cream experience as recommended by Road Food, Nick Charlaps in Hamburg, NY. Chris started chatting with a couple there who recommended ice cream flavors and a few places in VT that they love, but, of course, I can't remember the names now and Chris is asleep so I can't ask him. All I remember are the pies that the husband talked about…I'll get back to you on that.
We made it to Chicago despite the fact that our GPS kept trying to send us to Columbus. Laura made us a yummy, healthy dinner (thank God, we all needed some vegetables!). The boys wandered off to Wrigley Field:
while the ladies shopped on Southport. Emma, Rosie and Caroline LOVED Lulu Lemon:
After dinner we had ice cream at Jeni's (3rd day of ice cream in a row. I may have to go back to Lulu Lemon and buy something with an elastic waistband). It was delicious, I had the best strawberry ice cream ever. The dark chocolate and the salty caramel were also fantastic. YUM!
Tomorrow we head to WI where we will get to catch up with my brother Dan, my sister in law Heather and niece Flannery at a water park in the Dells. I will be the one in the caftan, eating ice cream.

Loving the road diary! Keep the posts coming.
