Hi everyone!
Day two has been successfully completed with only a few slapping incidents in the back seat (and not by the parents Department of Children and Families), but was otherwise a successful day. We left Syracuse and headed to Niagara Falls, a drive that should have taken 3 hours, but we managed to take 5 or 6. That may have been due to the trip to Wegmans in Manlius, best grocery store on the planet. The first place I ever found lemon Oreos, yum.

Then we had lunch in a rest stop while this guy had his car towed:
And Chris talked on the phone (because the drug dealers never quit and neither does he).
Then we were on to Niagara Falls. We were the first people on the Maid of the Mist which worked out nicely as we were on the very front of the boat on the second floor. I'm sure that I can't capture Niagara Falls with words (clearly, I'm not the writer in the family), but I can say that it was amazing, majestic, kind of scary and wet. The boat takes you so close to the Falls that you get soaked and some of us were a little nervous about the boat tipping over into the swirling, deep, cold, light green water.
We had a lovely couple from Las Vegas standing behind us who agreed to take a family photo:
Turns out the husband was an Annapolis grad.
After the boat we hiked up this crazy steep trail on the side of the Falls where you get completely soaked, even through the raincoat. Sadly Emma was wearing her Birkenstocks, so put those as an idea on her birthday list!
We had planned to camp out on the border of New York and PA but decided to forge ahead to Cleveland so that the drive on Tuesday would be shorter. We finally found a hotel and crashed in very comfy beds.
We had waffles in in cool chairs this morning and then got in the car for the drive to Chicago to see Laura, Dave and Caroline McHugh (Will is at camp).
We have made it through day 2, now on to day 3!
